Antique Codd-Neck Bottle – Marble Stopper Glass Soda Bottle – Victorian Era Collectable
A classic antique Codd-neck bottle, an iconic piece of Victorian beverage history and a highly collectable example of early soft drink packaging design.
Invented by Hiram Codd in the late 19th century, Codd bottles were designed with an internal glass marble stopper which sealed the carbonation inside the bottle using pressure from the contents. These distinctive bottles became widely used for soda water, lemonade, and mineral drinks throughout Britain, Australia, and beyond.
Featuring the instantly recognisable bulbous neck chamber designed to house the marble, this bottle is a fantastic display piece and a wonderful example of antique glassmaking and advertising history.
