An impressive large AE2 bronze coin of Emperor Constantius II, struck between AD 351 and 355, featuring one of the most celebrated reverse designs of the Late Roman Empire – the dramatic “Fallen Horseman” type.

This substantial coin measures 23mm and weighs 6.0 grams, making it a larger and more desirable example than many later Roman bronze issues. The obverse depicts the diademed bust of Constantius II, son of Constantine the Great and ruler of the Roman Empire from AD 337 to 361.

The reverse showcases the famous FEL TEMP REPARATIO (“Restoration of Happy Times”) design, portraying a Roman soldier thrusting his spear at a fallen horseman. This powerful image symbolised Rome’s military victories over external enemies and the restoration of order throughout the Empire during a turbulent period of invasion and political unrest.
