Description

WWII Japanese Occupation 10 Pesos Banknote – Philippines – Japanese Invasion Money

A genuine WWII Japanese Occupation 10 Pesos banknote, issued for circulation in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation of 1942–1945.

Known to collectors as Japanese Invasion Money (JIM) or Japanese Occupation currency, these notes were introduced by the Japanese authorities to replace existing Philippine currency following the occupation. The 10 Pesos denomination was one of the principal denominations issued during this period.

These wartime notes are highly collectable because they represent a fascinating and turbulent chapter in Philippine and World War II history.

Features

  • WWII Japanese Occupation currency
  • 10 Pesos denomination
  • Issued for use in the Japanese-occupied Philippines
  • Japanese Government issue
  • Classic wartime Japanese Invasion Money design
  • Excellent addition to a collection of WWII memorabilia, world banknotes or military history

Historical Significance

Following the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, Japanese authorities introduced their own currency, printed in denominations of pesos and centavos. The notes carried the wording “The Japanese Government” and became the principal currency under the occupation.

The 10 Pesos denomination was issued in more than one design during the occupation. The 1942 issue features a large “X” and plantation scene, while the later 1943 issue features the Rizal Monument on the front.

The currency became increasingly affected by wartime inflation, and by the later stages of the war much higher denominations were being produced. The Japanese-issued currency was withdrawn following the liberation of the Philippines.

Condition

The note is offered in vintage circulated condition, with age-related wear consistent with a WWII-era paper currency. Please examine the photographs carefully for folds, creases, edge wear, staining, toning and other condition details.

The photographs form an important part of the description and show the exact note being offered.

Why Collect Japanese Occupation Currency?

Japanese Invasion Money is particularly interesting because it connects numismatics with military and political history. These notes were produced specifically as part of the wartime occupation economy and provide a tangible reminder of life in the Philippines during World War II.

An excellent and historically significant addition to collections of WWII memorabilia, Japanese Occupation currency, Philippine banknotes, military history and world paper money.

A fascinating piece of WWII history and an interesting example of Japanese Occupation currency.
