Thomas “Bagaay” Avery, a painter, designer, and filmmaker who is a descendant of the Gamilaroi tribe in northern NSW. He uses his art to communicate his culture, and his personal totem is the blue-tongue lizard. Another artist with a similar name, though not the same person, is Graham Badari, who was born in 1962 and also creates art with Aboriginal themes, such as paintings on bark and canvas.
