Lestrade was a major European manufacturer of stereoscopic viewers and slides from the 1950s onward — often considered a counterpart to the American View‑Master.

Their stereoscopes came in different models: the earlier “Standard” (often bakelite) and later “Simplex” (plastic) — the latter was common in the 1960s–1970s.

The system works by placing stereoscopic cards/slides (double images) into the viewer; when looked through the lenses, the images merge into a 3-D effect. Common themes included tourist sights, landscapes, architecture, travel-scenes, and French landmarks.
