Offered for sale is a charming vintage Dutch Makkum faience plate, beautifully hand-painted in the traditional Friesland style with vibrant yellow, cobalt blue, green and terracotta colours. The plate features an elegant hexagonal shape with scalloped edges and a classic basket of flowers motif surrounded by stylised floral decoration and a bold geometric border.

Produced in the historic pottery town of Makkum in the Dutch province of Friesland, these colourful earthenware pieces continue a ceramic tradition dating back to the late sixteenth century. Inspired by Delftware and traditional Dutch folk art, Makkum pottery is celebrated for its rich tin-glazed finish, hand-painted designs and exceptional craftsmanship.
